Brian - It's not a lock, but you may be able to scan your hosed hard disk with RecoverNT or Recover98 and get back at least some stuff. It's tedious, but it works. The FAT doesn't have to be intact, which is what it sounds like lilo did to you. RecoverNT can be demo'd to see if this approach works. Steve
