Careful here. I don't think you want to attempt to recover stuff with scan
disk. Had a problem with 98 with a power outage. Scan disk tried to convert
everything on the drive and all was nearly lost  ..... I did manage to
recover email. Just be careful.

Also, I could be wrong but I thought NT and XP could read and write both
NTFS and fat 32. Its your choice. NTFS is recommended for security. You just
can't read NTFS with a FAT32 OS.

Have you tried using scandisk from within XP on your wayward drive?
