Kydex was recommended to me for use on the outside of my pit. Has anyone
actually used it? What did you use to  "melt" the Kydex into shape? Price
looks pretty reasonable.

Aluminum would be my first pick, but kydex is a heat moldable plastic that
is easy to work with and can be readily done at home.  Easy to cut and easy
to form.  Comes in gray, too.

You can buy it 1/8" thick.  I think the plastic internal panels on the
cockpit might be kydex.
