I don't know if it is the same now?  But, when the F15 and F16 first came
out, they used the same engine.  In fact for a while, a F16 engine had to
run in the F15 for 500 hours or so to prove itself.  G.E. had a terrible
failure rate on them at first.  Not so bad if you have a spare, but in the
F-16...... it was a silk letdown.
