Will not work for a compass - 10 turns would be max - stepper motor with =
a home sensor
is needed for that - I have a chip fom E-lab,Inc. to drive a stepper =
motor but have not played with it.

BTW - for BCD inputs to the computer I asked about - I found out that =
you can use
a keyboard Encoder IC for that - just found it from E-lab. it will scan =
64 buttons and
return the switch position via the serial port.

Sounds great to me. Tell me when you figure out how to have =
continuous rotation in both directions to run a compass.

    Subject: [simpits-tech] Servo Feedback

    Greetings all

I am thinking ------ so let me throw out my idea

    A servo from model airplanes run 90 or 180 degress - - - - right =
(for the MiniSSC)

The motor drives a feedback potentiometer of 5K - the motor will =
drive till it is=20
null out and the motor stops turning.

My instrument (Radar Altimeter ) is driven by a motor and has a =
feedback potentionmeter.
GREAT - ripped apart a old servo and disconnected the motor and pot =
from the servo
and used the servo board to hook up to the instruments motor and =
pot.=20

    Guess what - - - - It worked!!!!!!

    Here is the problem -

My Radar Altimeter needs 350 degress of movement for the neddle.

Now I know I can gear it to move 350 degress but that would be =
jumpie to much.

    SO -- - - - - I am thinking of replace the 5K pot in the instrument =
with a=20
    10 turn 50K precision potentiometer. Since it is a 10 turn - I think =
that
just one turn will give me 5K for what I need.

    What do you guys think??????

    Thanks
    Ken Trager
