ok.. after bloody AGES carefully sanding away layers of paint to find:

impressively emblazoned on both the nose and fuselage of my Sea Hawk,
today I called the Fleet Air Arm Museum to see if they could help identify
what these magical numbers mean.

"Easy sir.. thats the paint scheme indicator".
