Birchwood Casey makes some stuff called Aluminum Black. I've never used
it myself since I hate ordering things and can't find a local supplier
for it, but it's supposed to be a cold/electroless way to chemically
blacken aluminum. You could also strip the existing anodizing with lye
in water and a bit of elbow grease. Oven cleaner works, too, but takes
more effort.
Been there, done that, nearly blew myself up with a combination of
hydrogen and a cutting torch... ;)
