Kevin,

The Xmas lights do throw off quite a bit of heat. I have tried it. =
Althought its very flexible where I can locate the light bulb targetting =
the area where it needs to be back lid... I didnt like the heat factor =
and if one breaks the whole series go off. Since then I experiemented =
with a light rope solution. Something like Xmas light but its a clear =
rubber tube that has little lights inside. Very versatile and relatively =
flexible. The heat generate fromthere is reasonable. You can still touch =
it after its been on all night. And its a flood light solution rather =
than little spot of light.=20

When I lay them under my backlid panels. Its worked out relatively ok. =
No major damage to the backlid panels that I brought from Sukit last =
August. I basically twisted thelight rope around under the left side =
panels. Then sat all the panels directly ontop for about an hour and a =
half. That was my heat prove test. Of course, once the thing isproperly =
install. Therope will not make direct contact with the panels. But I =
also have to make another test to see if it will effect electronic wires =
and other plastic items within the section of the panel.

These rope cost me 7 AUD per metre + the power cords. I got 2x three =
metres rope with a Y cable coming that I can plug directly into a =
powerpoint without the use of a Transformer (the simplicity is what =
Ilike) all up for less than 50 bucks I think. I also plan to have a =
reflective mirror or some sort of reflective foil lay underneath and =
around the side wall of the panel structure. That way, I hope maybe I =
can bounce some more like back to the surface of the panel. How well =
that will work is yet to be discover. I am just concern that those =
generic toggle switches and rotary switches has such a "fat ass" base =
which will block some light reaching the surface of the panels where the =
lettering are. I had some pics on my site... but its down at the =
moment...
