[simpits-tech] Phidgets

OK, got some info from Chester. Roy, you're right...on the phone Chester is great!

On the issues with the 32/32 board, I was under the impression that this board should supply the +5v to each of the 32 inputs/outputs. In fact, this board is completely isolated from your PC circuitry. Instead, it provides switching on your circuit. So when you toggle output #1, the board opens the circuit and allows current to flow. you supply the power, up to 40v (sorry...I forget the amperage rating). So you can switch on/off whole lighting circuits, etc. without drawing power from your USB and without risking your PC electronics. Same deal on the input side. This is actually a very cool board once you understand it.

On the 8/8/8 board, I simply had the pot wired wrong...been 20yrs since I've played with electronics...I'm a software guy, will be a while coming back up to speed on h/w.

All in all, these boards look awesome and Chester was very helpful including some heads up to new product coming. From what I can see so far....if you're capable of writing a little code, this is definately the way to go for interfacing your deck.

Thanks for the heads up on Phidgets!

Kevin

They just ROCK :)

Yes, the analog does give a 5v supply and throwing a pot across the supply
and analog input should be fine - thats what its for.
