That sounds about right to me. There's no visible flame from the missle, and 
whats more, no motion blur at all. And the "smoke trail" does seem to be 
heavily weighted towards the bottom - indicating its coming from the deck, 
not the rear of the missile.

If that AIM 9 had been lit off there would have been a lot more exhaust 
smoke.  I doubt if any one would have been able to follow it with a camera.

I have fired them before.  They accelerate at over 22 Gs.  That was probably 
dust from the deck.
