Someone explained those pictures to me before...
from observatin, the front wheel of the F18 was slightly compressed meant it
might have just been trapped by the wire. That explain the sidewinder on the
ground was due to the forward momentum of the aircraft made it "came off"
the rail (beacuse it wasnt secured enough)...dropped onto the deck and slide
along the deck like it was seen in the second picture.

Dont know if it was 100% true...but it sounded logical to me.
