This would probably be too expensive for scratch built pits, but for folks salvaging real plane noses, what about using the A/C system off the plane? This might not be practical for some systems depending on their integration with/dependencies on the engine(s), but for other planes if you're collecting parts off the plane anyway, why not the A/C? It would provide MAJOR cooling anyway. :) -Matt Bailey
