>How much did it cost you in material?  

This is the best part about my construction. It has cost me about
$345 US in materials (wood, glue, screws and misc. - everything 
that went into the pit)

>Is it all MDF or plywood or both?

It's both and more. MDF where surfaces have to meet and be flush
(60%). Hard wood for frame and joints (10%). Plywood for doors and 
floor (20%). As the structure developes shape I am routing big 
sections of MDF out and adding support with aluminium angle.  


>Do you have the cutouts for the various instruments
>already marked?

I have the complete set of Allen Buffington's panels with all the 
instruments. This will be my starting point and gradually I will 
include real instruments.
