What is a Gerber file? I've seen this term before.

Frank,
You asked about PCB software.
Douglas Cad makes a version for the Mac and for the Windows operating
system.
Their price is $25.00 US and will allow you to print your layout. If
you
need a Gerber file you can email them your file and for a small fee they
convert to Gerber format.

You can download the program and try it for 30 days. Give them $25 and
you
can get a key to use it indefinitely.
If you make your own PCB using printouts on clear acetate, this program
should work fine.
