OK,
Ive been a little busy, but managed to put the final coats of paint on my ACES-
II, and then some of the detailing. I used a SodaStream (home soda maker) gas
bottle for the O2. Im about to add the ejection handles, they are made, just
need some paint. Just uploaded a couple of pictures to the simpits site (aces-
ii replica)

Im also getting back into my serial port driven gauges (servo based) and have
started to re-write my software to allow for a more modular approach. I want to
be able to add additional gauges (comms and IPC details to the software) easily
just by adding a definition to a config file, or drop down list or similar, so
this winter I should be ready for that. Ive been toying with building my AH,
wanting to use the Stepper motor driver kit I bought a few years back now, but
just gotta figure out how to control the parallel port (bit wise) from within
VB, anyone know how? Or any ideas on where to start?

I also completed my wideview rack mounted PC installation. It now houses 4
PC's. Three view machines, and a smaller P2 for running the gauge software and
Squawkbox and my internet connection. Its all painted and on castors, makes it
very easy to manage and roll around.

I also was given two 486 Compaq Laptops a week ago which Im real excited about.
The displays are perfect for MFD's. They are running Win95 and with a docking
station I should be a to network them. I have built an MFD surround and will
attempt dismantle the laptops next weekend to make the displays a little more
accessible. Im planning on using them for FreeFD or Magenta stuff at some
stage. Ive also thought about writing my own MFD software for use with MSFS but
that’s a little way off.

Cheer
Chris.
