Hi everyone,
I stopped work on my F-111 late last year as I planned to build an air
conditioned room for it. Well, I've now completed that room and it looks
great.
It's 6.0 metres x 4.5 metres and has a higher ceiling than the basement I
was using. It's painted in a very light sky blue with battleship grey
trimmings and has "steel grey" vinyl floor tiles. The far end of the room
is where the screen will go (screen size, approx = 4.5m x 3.0).
The F-111 will sit in front of this screen leaving room behind the sim for
storage shelves, computer rack, workbench and the proposed instructors
station (desk). The projector for the outside view mounts on the ceiling
and projects over the sim onto the screen. There is enough room for a
curved screen with 2 projectors (future).
I've already dismantled the F-111 (I'm glad I built it modular - only took
2 hours) and am now rebuilding it in it's new home.
I've decided to put in dual controls, something I wanted to do before but
was put off the idea because I'd have to dismantle the sim to do it ! It
means I have to make another set of throttles, pedals and control column -
and they have to be physically linked together but it's a challenge I'm
actually looking forward to :-) You'd be amazed at what can be achieved
with bicycle chains and cogs !!!
I've got pics that I will place on my web site - when I get around to
updating it :-)
Well, that's what's on my workbench at present.
Cheers,
Rod
