Hi folks,

Just thought anyone residually attached to this list might be interested to know that I have got GEMDOS for Lisa building again, and I have a working source tree I'll upload somewhere in the next couple of days. If anyone wants a copy emailed to them, let me know.

I use the Hatari Atari emulator as the actual build environment, because it's easier to compile GEMDOS on GEMDOS and all the build scripts work under EmuToS. The main difficulty was that the CON.O file that contains the BDOS console support seems to have gone completely missing over the years, and the version shipped with the Atari GEMDOS sources is too new. So I kind of produced a ghastly cross between the Atari GEMDOS CONSOLE.C and the console code from CP/M 1.2, and it seems to work though I wouldn't put any great confidence in its typeahead buffer...

Aside from this, and a couple of minor incompatibilities which I put down to building the thing on an ersatz Atari, the build scripts in the GEM Porting Kit actually worked pretty well. I only had to make one small change to them, which was very gratifying.

Next: get the rest of GEM running (it runs in an emulator but not on my hardware. Time to dig...) Anyone else got any fun ideas?

Ta

Rob
