Well, IIRC that $25K was only for a business like Seagate to modify it for
their own products, and for an unlimited royalty free license, however, I
only know of one kernel that was released to the public and it had support
for large hard drives that was patched in.

As  for FreeDos, while some things are good about it, others not so much.
