Shane,
  Actually, I beleive that the problem is that GEM is expecting certain 
environment conditions and quits when this doesn't happen...the question for 
us is how does this change and when?
  I will be spending this weekend researching this. I have a feeling that 
the answer is right in front of us, just out of our reach.  :)
