If you want to have modern applications you should speak about more
actual software which needs more actuial atari environment. Much of
old software can cause problems if you only emulate an atari environment
like you can find in MagiC. The can have problem with other graphic
resolutions, ...

And many of the atari users today use more modern equipment. If you
want to offer them a new solution you need a more moder emulation.

But DOS can not use the full 8 MB. Is it possible to write GEM
applications for DOS extender? Otherwise the memory was not very
usefull. A emulator for 68k which runs a atari application inside
should have more memory than DOS offers under GEM.
