<FONT FACE="Verdana">One more hurdle for you is focal length. Real HUD focal length is something close to infinity. That is, when you look at the target (i.e., another aircraft ahead of you) and the gun funnel on the HUD, both appear at the same focal distance.<BR>
<BR>
Fore example. Look out the window your neighbor’s car and put a newspaper at arms length from you next to the car’s image. When you look at the car your newspaper is unfocused. When you focus on the newspaper, the car is unfocused.<BR>
<BR>
HUDs change the focal length of the projected image to match real world objects outside the aircraft. For a simulator you must set the focal length of the HUD to match the distance to your projection screen so both the real world display and the HUD are in focus at the same time.<BR>

The US Government use what appears to be quartz glass the coating on the glass is as yet unidentified by myself. I suggested that you obtain the assistance of an optical engineer or experiment with coatings until you have the needed information. Edmonds scientific maybe some assistance to you.<BR>
