<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Got my intercom today. It's a Flightcom III (an
older model - I haven't seen it for sale on any sites anyway). It has jacks
for the pilot and copilot, plus an expansion module for 2 passengers - the
expansion module just runs on normal telephone wire, so you could buy a length
as long as you need, which is nice.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>It has a pilot isolate switch so the pilot can
shut out all the inside traffic and just listen to the radio, plus a digital
clearance recorder, which is also quite nice. It also has 1/8" input and
output jacks for using things like walkmans.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>In short, it's going to be painful hacking this
thing to peices! :) It's a very nice setup. But it's also absolutely perfect
for what I'm using it for, it just has a few extra goodies above and beyond
what I need. I'd love to find a use for the DCR, but I just can't. Pilot
isolate is another matter - we may put a nice strong CB into the truck, in
which case this whole setup would be rigged to that as well. I'd just need to
make myself a PTT switch, which is cake.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Oh, and a REALLY nice thing is that it will run
on 12-32VDC, so I don't have to worry about hooking up to the 24V supply in
The Deuce. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>My dad is gonna be so pumped! :) This solves one
of the biggest drawbacks to driving The Deuce around - the noise! You can't
carry on a conversation in this thing - yet! ;)</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>As for sims, I still think this little deal would
work out great. Easy to get power to, looks like its going to be easy to hack
apart, and a DCR could definitely be useful in a sim environment!</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Remind me, Gene, once I start actually working on
putting this thing in The Deuce I'll do a write up, the methods and ideas
should transfer over very well to the sim world.</FONT></DIV>
