I just finished the terminal end of the rudder pedal harness this evening. I was waiting on some sleeved #6 crimp spade connectors to come in. The website (http://www.simpits.org/geneb) has more updates since I last posted about it here. The stick grip is 100% completed and I've got the left-sub panel populated and the edge-lighting wired, but I haven't wired up the switches yet. I placed the order for 3 projector kits from http://www.diyprojectorkits.com and they'll ship as soon as the optics he has on order arrives. I'm really stoked about that. I'll have 3 9 foot wide screens running through a TH2G. *Evil Grin* I'm dying to try out Need For Speed:Underground on 'em. :) You guys are welcome to stop by - the F-15 is still populated so you can check that out too. g. -- Proud owner of F-15C 80-0007 http://www.f15sim.com - The only one of its kind. However those bulbs put off a lot of heat and use a lot of current. ? After hanging with the movie Gaffers we have been turned on to using RGB LED light strips. What is nice about them is you can use blue for "daytime" flying and red or green for "night"flying. These things hardly use any power at all and put out no heat. They are bright enough that you can get away with not providing light in individual steam gauge instruments. Some of them also have a black light function which makes some of the instrument flags actually glow, which looks neat. ? http://cgi.ebay.com/1M-100cm-RGB-Flash-5050-SMD-LED-Strip-Light-IR-Remote_W0QQitemZ330390333885QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4ceccc69bd Justin Messenger Flight Simulators and Aircraft Instruments www.nu-tekinc.com ? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxGICmW2lwI The amazing thing is that I didn't have any wiring errors. :) This is amazing considering there is more than 12 months between start and "Finish" on some of the componenets. I guess my notes were better than I thought. I'm not happy at all with the throttle quadrant. The pots are very spikey and only appear to operate for the first 1/8th or so of lever arm travel. I need to tear into it and check each one with a multi-meter to find out what is going on. The centering springs in the gimbal still can't return the stick to center. At this point it's enough to hold it in whatever position you put it, but that's it. I'm going to be building a BRFS gimbal for the other cockpit and we'll see how that one works out. I've also started streaming live video via http://www.ustream.tv - search for "f15sim" and you'll find my channel. Nothing earth shattering, just me & Rob working on various things. I'm going to try to make sure it's running every Saturday. I suspect you may have already done this but make sure the pots are first calibrated in Windows Game Controllers. That's bitten me more than once in EPIC. The other thing to is that I've found that some pots have a smaller "Usable" Range". You might need to re-locate the dead-zone (Physical) especially on linear-throw pots. I've not had to use shielded coax for any of my projects but that might be a consideration... EMI :-(Probably not a factor because when the throttles don't move in your video, the sim throttles also don;t move. Unfortunately I don't have any air stream tearing past control surfaces to create that effect. It would be a cool thing to do with stepper controlled end points though...
