Hi John
The nice thing about the F24-12-A power supplies is that they can be 
wired for 220 or 110 volts AC. They also have an interesting feature, 
an Inhibit terminal. Place a ground on the INH pin and you can turn 
off the DC. I have 4 used F24-12-A's and 1 new F24-12-A.

this discussion I piped up with my wish for a USB stand-alone 
altimeter, as that was the only gauge I hadn't worked out how to make....
Well... Simkits have released *exactly* that, a USB, stand-alone 
Altimeter.  Yessir, while browsing their website (on my pda while 
perched on the can... but that's a WHOLE different story!, pass the 
mental bleach etc) I found the newest batch of their USB gauge

It's great to see the simkits guys continuing to grow, their stuff is

You know Roy, seeing as I know the company you keep around these 
parts, I find that very hard to believe <lol>

Only problem I have with simkits is that their stuff keeps getting 
more expensive.  The good old multi-controller (which I have now 
bought... I dunno....lots for various projects) is now gone up to 120 
euros, which is getting up there for what it is.
But then, with the altimeter, there are not too many options at 
anything like their price.... I can see mr Visa getting a beating in 
the very near future :)

If you get it and use it with a fighter sim let me
know if it keeps up with the plane in a rapid altitude
change. Their CCU2 altimeter doesnt come close to
keeping up with a fighter and so have been thinking
about trying flight illusion's altimeter to see if it
is faster. Flight Illusions attitude indicator is much
faster than SimKits.

As far as prices go, they no longer have the cheap
gauges kits for the multi controller that I planned to
use in my DC-8. As I recall some of those were only
about 30 bucks before being discontinued.

It's a very vertical market (pardon the pun) and I know that they've
invested a shedload of money in the production of these goodies - that has
to be reflected in the price.

want - you gotta pay the man !

I bought (and built) their attitude indicator, altimeter and gyro compass
for use with servo drivers from phidgets (before that all went tits up)
but never got around to using them.

I'm open to offers if they're of use to someone, you'll probably need to
rebuild them now though !

I'm interested, especially if they are cheaper than the Simkits gauges.

I never knew that Phidgets sold sim gauges.  Are they servo based or  
open air core?  Do you know where there is some documentation or data  
onine on the phidgets gauges I can see?  What are you asking?

Im not sure if I told you but right after we met up in
Enid I got a KC-135R sim rid in Wichita, very cool
stuff! Then I moved to Wichita last month! 

Let me know when you get to Altus, My uncle is a C-17
sim instructor there and Im due to go for a visit. I
missed out on C-17 sim time that had been scheduled
for me last Christmas due to my car breaking down the
day I was suppossed to drive down there :( Errrr!

Yup they are nice, nice products, and from a cost of tooling 
perspective alone I can appreciate that :)  I don't begrudge them the 
prices they are charging at all.
On the other side of the coin, their products don't fit my project 
that well, so I am having to design and build my own, but hey, isn't 
that part of the fun? <lol>
