Hi,

i'm looking at the $20.00 to $25.00 range per rotary (including encoder,
excluding the knob). you'll probably be able to specify 12, 24, or 36 click
versions. the 36-click version (as it stands) can produce too many inputs
(more than the sim can handle) if you turn it very quickly, but i LOVE the
tight feel of the closely-spaced clicks.

they have 4 wires: power, ground, and 2 Hagstrom/Epic connections. we plan
to daisy-chain the power on the PC card (a tiny card right behind the
rotary device) to minimize the amount of wiring coming from any group of
controls. Daisy-chained devices would only have 2 wires, running to the
Hagstrom/Epic. We plan to have them on a connector, so you can readily
disconnect them when you pull the panel, and leave the wiring attached to
the Epic/Hagstrom.

Power comes from a wall transformer (Radio Shack special). The device draws
about 1ma when static, a bit more when turning, so you can put several of
these on a single wall wart. I currently have about 5 in my proto-cockpit,
and the transformer is idling.

Gang, let me know of your "ultimate" rotary. If there are a few different
"ultimates", we could change programming accordingly, and give more folks
what they really want.
