Labo(u)r. <br>

Communist/Socialist left... Greens... Labour...Democrats...
Tories/(Aust) Coalition... Republicans... "National Socialists"<br>
That's roughly the spectrum.<br>

Interestingly, though, our Coalition is made up of Liberal (which is
somewhat along the Thatcher-Reagan line these days) and National Party,
which is really a rural socialist party. This strange collection makes
for interesting internal tensions in the present Government, as the
Liberals try to cut out as much Government intervention in society as
possible, while the Nationals keep pushing for Government subsidies for
rural constituencies.<br>
<br>
It is not all bad, though; because the Nationals have sometimes
hindered the Liberal tendency to steal from the public the services we
have paid for for a century. The Government constantly tries to sell
the stolen property back to the richer members of the public ("mum and
dad shareholders") so that they can then in turn sell them off to Osama
b. Laden, one of George W/s mates, or whoever else comes along with a
bag of money. Key word: Telstra.<br>

I've been meaning to ask one of you UKians. What IS a Tory? Here in
the land of crappy beer and stump-stupid presidents, we've got
democrats and republicans with misc. smaller groups scattered around
for good measure. Is Labour equivalent to a republican (conservative)
and a Tory equivalent to a democrat (liberal)?
