All,
Having been prompted by a message from Dr. Kasten earlier, I discovered a
pair of messages that had been held for moderation due to size. Looks like
I made a pils of my mailbox rules when I had to change my primary e-mail
address recently; my apologies to all for the delay in passing these
messages on.
I've uploaded the file that was attached to the below message to:
http://flatpack.microwavepizza.co.uk/gem/PresTeam20.zip
Regards,
Ben A L Jemmett.

Dear administrator,
sorry for this another large attachment, but i think this software is
interesting for some members because i haven?t found it in the web. The
package contains six disk images and an enclosed nice Artline-demo.
Presentation Team 2.0 runs under GEM/4 and comes with a file converting
program (e.g. .GEM to .IMG) and an advanced OUTPUT.APP. I have also a full
set of english manuals. If someone is interested i will make pdf?s.
Best regards,
M.Kasten

Hello to anyone interested in DR-DOS. I have seen a few e-mails regarding
folks looking for DR-DOS. I don't know if this is the right medium to
respond so if not, I apologize in advance - no intention to spam anyone :-)
ZF Micro Solutions offers a room temperature rated ZFx86 PC-on-a-Chip with a
DR-DOS 7.0 license for $14.95. Includes the chip and a CD with DR-DOS 7.0
files, access to all documentation and shipping. See attached description -
only difference from the data sheet is that the chip is only rated for room
temp operation at -20C to +25C (-4F to 77F). The ZFx86 is a 388BGA device
and when sold this way comes without any support but full documentation and
support is available for serious projects.

Dear ALL:
While poking around eBay, I came across an offering of DR-DOS 6 just BEFORE
this exchange of letters began.
e-Bay Item number: 180411515722
"
FULL DR-DOS 6.0 -- Full 3 Disk Set -- DRDOS ***NEW***
# Latest revised DR-DOS 6.0 on 3.5-inch 1.44MB media.
# Includes the full two diskette set:
* Disk 1 - Install
* Disk 2 - ViewMax
# Plus an additional disk containing low-level source code files (not part
of the standard distribution):
* Disk 3 - DRBIOS & SKELBIOS
# We were licensed directly by Digital Research to distribute DR-DOS.
# Digital Research embedded and compiled our name into the bootup display to
prove our ownership of distribution rights (please see above photo of bootup
display). Note: Our name appearing in the initial bootup message is the ONLY
difference between our software and the generic software.
# View the release notes HERE.
http://208.109.247.6/st/files/drdos6_readme.txt
# Printed manuals are not included.
# Also available on 5-1/4 inch 1.2MB media - please see our other listings.
"
[In the two diskette set "auction", there is this note:] "
Note: If you wish to receive the 3-disk set which includes an optional third
disk containing DRBIOS and SKELBIOS low-level source code files, please see
our other auctions. The third disk is not part of the standard DR-DOS
distribution and was generally distributed only to OEMs and product
developers. It is of primary interest to those wishing to make modifications
to or understand the workings of the BIOS portion of the O/S, or to those
wishing to create low-level drivers.
"
There exists, both, 3.5in and 5.25in three(3)-diskette sets AND some
two(2)-diskette 3.5in(?) sets. Twenty to thirty, in all. Oh. - and less then
(<) 10$ a-piece(@).
Sincerely,
Thomas Clayton

Dear members,
can anybody tell me something about the licence state of the Digital
Research operating systems (CP/M, MP/M, Concurrent DOS, Multiuser DOS,
FlexOS, Multiuser DOS, DR DOS) ?
It`s a little bit confusing, on the one side you can download DR DOS 7 for
free, on the other side you have to pay at DRDOS.org.
What?s the difference between XM/GEM and GEM/XM ?
Thank?s for your
answers,
Michael Kasten

They're neat, but not very many hobbyists can solder down a BGA part, let
alone produce a board for one. :)

Yeah, you're not wrong -- I find SOIC packages stretch my abilities enough
at the moment, and they've got pins you can actually reach from the outside!

The OS-tan phenomenon, as I understand it, involves drawing cute female
personifications of operating systems. As far as I can tell no-one's
drawn GEM-tan yet, though there are references to her in other places, such
as:
If someone does draw her, I think she ought to have a bowtie as a homage to
the Close button.

That is a superb idea - I like it.
Also possibly one of those painfully-trendy-a-while-ago Atari T-shirts
with the "Mount Fuji" logo on it? :?)
