[GEM Development] some updates

David,

I was thinking I'd get a short reply like OpenGEM 4.2. Obviously YOU "mix and match" to your own liking - a LOT!! As an ALMOST entirely lesser programmer (Do I even DESERVE the term at ALL?), I GREATLY appreciate insights as to who does (/ did) what with the various pieces that make up our multi-faceted GEM (pun intendED)! :-D
