The explanation you had for the window animation was really clear.
Thank you...

Now, I have been playing around, and I have discovered that the
animation does run quite fast if I move my mouse around. But it is
unpredictable and slow otherwise. (I'm using a Centrino laptop with
WindowsXP).

Overall, it makes using the desktop a little miserable on a modern
machine. It feels hellishly sluggish. Given that around 80% of FreeGEM
users are running Windows as well, this constitutes a pretty big issue.

Is there any way to disable this function by default, and perhaps to
have it as an option in the preferences? The animation is great on a
machine it works on, but it's not going to work properly on the vast
majority of machines it'll be downloaded onto.

Alternatively, can a version of the desktop without the animation
function be released?

Regards

Shane
