: John, this may be a silly question, but would it be possible for your
: desktop to automatically open some file types using the VIEW CONTENTS
: command unless the DESKTOP.INI had already associated these files with
: an application?

I've now done this. Not quite how you asked me to, though.

Download today's build of the Desktop, and install it. Then, near the
beginning of DESKTOP.INF, add the line:

#G082A DESKTOP.APP@ *.TXT,*.INF,*.ME@

(using whatever filetypes you want to be able to open). The Desktop will
then open those filetypes in its internal viewer.

The fun bit is that if 'Configure Application' is subsequently used to
associate those filetypes with something else (such as WORDPLUS.APP or
WRITE.APP) that entry will appear in DESKTOP.INF after the one for
DESKTOP.APP -- and the one that comes last takes priority.
