OpenGEM has been run successfully on DOSBox. Peter Veenstra of the DOSBox
project and I have been working together to solve some of the issues that
might prevent a DOSBox user getting OpenGEM to function.

It's not perfect yet, but so far the situation is that once installed
OpenGEM functions correctly. The installation of OpenGEM, and the use of
DOS BATCH files by OpenGEM SETUP mean that problems are encountered before
the desktop is started.

To install OpenGEM on DOSBox download opengem3.zip from
http://gem.shaneland.co.uk, open it with you zip application, and unzip the
file inside called ogem3.zip to your C: drive. You should tell your zip
application to rebuild the existing directories in the file. When you start
DOSBox and navigate to C:, simply type "GEM" to run OpenGEM as normal.
