This is a question for you cnc pro's out there... What do you use to
create G-Code? I just don't want to buy Visual Mill for $1000! We are
hopefully getting a neat little machine for work, but the budget wont
stretch to visual mill as well. As I *really* want the machine, I
thought that if I can find a way of creating the G-Code cheaper, then
the deal may still be on.

Oh, and, yes I know that I *could* just write g-code myself in notepad,
coz that's how real men do it etc etc etc, but I am far to old and lazy
for that anymore ;-)

Hi Sean,

I use ReplicatorG for my 3S printer. It can create G Code internally. In earlier version G Code was generated with Skeinforge, which is now integrated in ReplicatorG.
Here some links as starting point:

You might want to look at VCarve Pro. That's what I use for doing 99% of
the work on the 'bot. They've also got a product called Cut3D that allows
for four sided machining. Go to http://www.vectric.com to check it out.

Thomas and Gene;

Thanks for the hints and links... had a look, found some pretty cool
stuff including "G Simple" and "Lazy CAM" which are also pretty cool...
But in recent news, I've done a deal to get VisualMill, and pay for it
"at some point down the track" from the agent :)

Getting the Mill on Monday <yippee!>
