I needed to crimp some wire rope to some control line terminals for
the sim, checking the web the Crimpers are big bucks! Only a person
like Gene could afford to have a pair hanging around his man land
only to be used one or two times of the F15.

So I visited Harbor Freight, and found a pair of 18 inch bolt cutters
for under $20usd. Then off to the water jet boys to make some new
jaws, for around $20usd

Tomorrow I will pick up the end mill to cut the die pattern, around $10usd

While I acknowledge the jaws are not made from tool steel, I am sure
I can get the 10 or 12 crimps I need!

Here is a link showing the conversion.

Very nice David. It's the 'workarounds' like this that make pit building
so much fun I think :-)

Pfft. I can't even evict the moths in my wallet - I need their rent
money. :)

Poor man's swagging tool! I love it! :)

I'd love to have something like that to neck-down 1/2" conduit for use as
pushrods.

If anyone wants the DXF for the jaws, I can send the file.

You would have to go the 42" bolt cutters for $29.99 LOL

I am going to make a second set of jaws to crimp battery terminals.
