There's been an on-going thread on mycockpit.org about both the scarcity
and crazy expense of a typical dual-concentric rotary encoder.

I got to thinking about it and made the following suggestion - which I
think folks here could use too.

You could use a regular encoder with a pushbutton in it (like this one:
http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9117) to handle both MHz and kHz fields -
turn for MHz, push down & turn for kHz. A simple tweak in software would
handle the job quite easily.
