Hi all and thanks for looking...
This is my first post and like most newbie's I have a ton of questions regarding SimPits.
I basically want to replicate the same thing as SimAviatik dot com produce.
I am a plane freak (plain? ) and build large scale r/c planes as a hobby.
I am investigating building a SimPit and would appreciate your feedback on the following:
Scope of my project:
The SimPit will be a WWII P51-D Mustang cockpit.
It will not have motion at this time.
It will make use of my existing home theatre (projector).
It will be movable (i.e on wheels).
All FS controls will be actuated from the cockpit (switches, gauges etc)
All gauges in the cockpit will work (where possible).
I am considering a Track IR device.
It will have a butt kicker built in to add to the sensation.
It will take 1 to 2 years to complete but must be usable along the way.
Must be built on a budget (relatively low).
Questions:
What simulator software best suits the base requirements of quality, realism, physical connectivity, ability to turn off the virual cockpit in favour of the physical one & supports the Mustang?
Are you, the members of this forum, able to help me identify required components (i.e interface controllers) and help me set it up?
Other considerations:
I was a mechanical CAD draughtsman in a previous life.
Already have a good idea about how to build the pit.
Don't know much about electronics.
I'm realistic about my abilities but will try almost anything.
That's my first hack at trying to explain my project on paper.
Thanks for reading this far and for any information you supply, much appreciated!
Goose
