You might try poking around on here. I have dealt with them quite a bit and no problems.

Good luck with that. They are all so different. Then add ribbon cables to the equation. What do you mean by broken? The cases? Or are they fried somehow electronically.
Most of those things are composite (RCA) or perhaps S-Video. Some of them even have mini 1/8" phone plugs for video in. Depending on what they are, you can either get a TV card (all in wonder etc), but I don't know how you'd interface that with X-Plane or FS. Alternative is to search for the pin-outs and try to wire them up the way you like. But if the monitor won't turn on, you have bigger issues to deal with. Stripping the screen out to operate stand-alone is paramount to asking a car to go down the road 60 miles an hour without an engine. The "screen" being the "car". There is an inverter, and a PSU and backlighting and everything else in an LCD monitor. If none of those things work, that is why they are cheap. Because they aren't useful for anything except spare parts.

Thanks Rick,
Thought its just that easy, but going on to all those trouble, it might come
out more expensive to make them work. Its always good to seek advice from
expert simmers. Saved me from going all the troubles.
By the way, been to Taipei and got this ipad clone thats a PC for $200,
check it out Moonse e-7001 called the a-pad, it interfaced with my flight
simulator.
Again thanks for the info.

I wouldn't say I was an expert simmer by any stretch of the imagination, but have just gone through what you were trying to do myself not so long ago. Only I was trying to get digital picture frames to work. Just buying another monitor was a lot cheaper. For some reason, small monitors are outrageously expensive. I even tried unsuccessfully to find a supplier for the little 7-8 inch LCD TV's they use in the seat backs of commercial airliners. They must make millions of them and probably cost dirt. Couldn't find any anywhere.

thank god someone already had the same idea, otherwise i would have
suffered. thinking might just settle with saitek instrument display, until
LCD's get cheap.
still i will try to see if any of those chinese OEM lcd manufacturers have
considered selling in small quantities.
have a good weekend.

| [simpits-tech] monitors [message #1292 is a reply to message #1289 ] |

Delor,
This is as close as I got to solving the problem. Using a 50.00 photo player with composite and/or SVHS " in " would do fine. Sometimes you can find those car DVD players with two monitors cheap too. The second monitor is ready to go, and the first can be used with a bit of jigging around as well. Total about 75.00 a screen. But only one screen per computer unfortunately. If your only looking to make two glass instrument panels that shouldn't be a problem. (only two computers)
Great video about the product a bit down the page:

Hey, 29 bucks? I can't get a half decent bottle of Scotch for that. ;)

Thanks Rick,
Thought its just that easy, but going on to all those trouble, it might come out more expensive to make them work. Its always good to seek advice from expert simmers. Saved me from going all the troubles.
By the way, been to Taipei and got this ipad clone thats a PC for $200, check it out Moonse e-7001 called the a-pad, it interfaced with my flight simulator.
Again thanks for the info.

Because they aren't useful for anything except spare parts.

thank you for your quick reply, however is there a way to separate the screen and wire it from there? i would like to use them to create glass cockpit instruments.

Thanks Rick,
Thats an idea that will work, anyways I still have four computers sitting
around, the only drawback, the heat.
Iam integrating the MFD cougar twin pack, thats why I need extra screen for
each on top of the EICAS screen, and GPS.
Again, thanks for your time.
