This the sort of thing? The other option is to protect the incoming
power... then it's just the USB devices which could cause trouble

I thought you know better a usb surge protector (computer pornography).
You have the cart (usb) before the horse (ac-power)
plug all your stuff into one power plug.. (maybe a ups, what a thought)
so take my advice and for get about the porn....

yes, the only thing is it is USB 1.1 only.
