Nope. There's a DLL available for download, but the docs are useless even
before I feed them into translate.google.com
The hardware looks really promising, especially at the price point it's
at, but if they won't provide documentation on it, it might as well not
exist.
It's at the point where I just don't have the time to dick around with
them - if they can't provide the docs, then I'll be damned if I'm going to
waste a dime of my money or another minute of my time. I don't have any
extra of eitehr to spare.

This is sounding like another "it works fine with MSFS" type company.
I got bitten by one of those too. :-(

What blows me away is that they basically give it all away. You can
download the gerber files for the boards and everything. I just checked
the site and they don't provide source code for the PICs either, just hex
files. If I could get my hands on the PIC source I could probably puzzle
out the protocol myself if I had to.
>From what I can tell, there is no way to get out from under this SIOC
application they use. For my purposes, that's a big bucket of fail.
They need to take a hard look at PHCC to see how to do this kind of thing
_right_.

This is typical of the MSFS community. You can never get any of these guys
to allow you to interface with their stuff. This is the same thing Leo ran
into when he tried to break into the MSFS community.
Gene, I assume your interface is compatable with the PHCC? When will you
have a beta for testing with...specifically for falcon 4.0?
No one has yet release a functional piece of software for PHCC.

It's like they're hard of thinking or something. I mean how hard is it to
understand "need programming documentation"? Gaaah!
As you can see in the thread, I've tried one more time for docs... If I
don't get a useful response, they're going to be thrown on the one trick
pony pile (msfs).

Michi - I was just going to contact you over @ SimHQ.
Any progress on EEST? I know GlynD was working on it, too.
If I may, I would like a copy of the FAST sourcecode, to play around
with, too. And anything you got from Retro, regarding CommServer.
(And I may need to pick your brain a bit, regarding SIOC. :-) )

I did a Falcon to SIOC converter software called FAST. Communicating
with the SIOC server is as easy as possible, IMHO. It's just getting and
setting variables, the rest is done in SIOC.
Gene, contact me through mail, I'll send you my sourcecode (although
VB6), hopefully you'll be able to read it ;)
greetings
michi

Michi, I appriciate the offer, but having SIOC in the middle is exactly
what I don't want. I wanted information on how to program the hardware
directly, without anything between my app and the hardware.
Apparently they are unable or unwilling to provide that documentation.
This basically means that while the IOcards hardware is kind of neat and
potentially useful, it's completely useless for those unwilling or unable
to drink the MSFS/SIOC kool-aide.

Nay, Nay said the little red hen, no I use these puppies, I have a bout
10 units (used) they all had to be reprogramed so the usb would work.
but that no problem... and since its programable I/O for my NAV computer
hardware:
http://www.tpub.com/content/ahapache/TM-1-1520-238-T-1/css/T M-1-1520-238-T-1_088.htm
which has been gutted buy all of the displays and switches are there
so I use the card and I program it. you do the keyboard has been rewired
to output 0-D via priorty encoders, and then each switch goes to hex
latch, 2 switches per latch so
1 latch for the two rotary switches
1 latch for the two thumb wheel switches
1 latch the the keyboard it self
the following drives the display
1 latch /decoder 14bit one for each display (mux out)
1 latch / decoder 16 bits for drive (mux out)
a bad sim of it. http://www.phoenixcomm.net/~phnx2000/sim/demo/demo.html
most of what it is is code in C

Did you actually _read_ that thread? The hardware I'm talking about
connects via the parallel port. It has no USB support at all!
